
Katerina Fountedaki was admitted to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Law after ranking first in the national entrance exams and graduated at the top of her class. She was appointed as a lecturer in Civil Law at the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2000 and has been a full professor since March 2013.
The main academic fields of her publishing and research activities are Medical Law and Professional Liability, Medically Assisted Reproduction, Tort Law, Protection of Personality, Bioethics, and Family Law, which she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as Property Law and General Principles of Civil Law. She has 125 publications, including ten books, with more than 2,000 citations, and has participated in more than 165 conferences and other academic events of legal and interdisciplinary nature. She has served on 8 legislative committees in Greece, the European Union, and the Council of Europe, focusing on family law. She is Director of the Laboratory for the Study of Medical Law and Bioethics at the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a member of the National Committee of Bioethics and Technoethics with a four-year term (beginning in May 2026), President of the Association of Civilists, and a deputy member of the Supreme Disciplinary Council. She has served as a member of the Evaluation and Accreditation Council of the National Authority for Higher Education (NAHE) for the field of Law and Political Science, Deputy Dean of the Law School at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Deputy Chair of the National Authority for Medically Assisted Reproduction, member of the Board of Directors of the School of Judges, and General Secretary of the Family Law Society. She is an attorney at the Supreme Court, a member of the Thessaloniki Bar Association (Fountedaki Law Firm), and of counsel at the law firm Tsibanoulis & Partners.
