Greek-German Symposium "Economic Law in times of crisis"
We are pleased to share that Dr. Kanellos Klamaris, Senior Associate at Tsibanoulis & Partners Law Firm, recently participated in the Greek-German Symposium "Economic Law in times of crisis" ("Wirtschaftsrecht in Zeiten der Krise"), held on May 18th and 19th, 2023. This Symposium was organized by the Law Faculties of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the EBS University of Wiesbaden and took place at the History Museum of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. All contributions were in German.
Dr. Klamaris' contribution to the Symposium focused on the ways in which the reforms that Greek company law has undergone during the last decade, have lowered transaction costs, thus rendering Greek company law more competitive and more suitable to function as a tool to overcome economic crises.
These substantial changes to Greek corporate law, also include: introducing new laws governing sociétés anonymes and partnerships, establishing a completely new kind of legal entity (the Private Company) suitable for small businesses, and enacting a comprehensive and business-friendly law on mergers and divisions. These efforts reflect the aspirations of Greek lawmakers to create a new legal landscape that fosters economic growth and enhances the competitiveness of the Greek economy.
Tsibanoulis & Partners Law Firm and its lawyers are committed to staying at the forefront of legal developments and contributing to meaningful discussions on important legal topics. Our Corporate and M&A practice has implemented many of the new tools offered by the abovementioned legislation in helping our clients strike deals that better serve their interests and lead their companies in a cost-efficient and profit-generating manner while taking into consideration the particularities of each case (e.g. the particular shareholding structure) and industry.
