News from Tsibanoulis & Partners regulatory law practice: Dr. Nikolaos Simantiras as invited conference speaker at first gambling law Institute in Germany.

Dr. Nikolaos Simantiras, Senior Associate of Tsibanoulis & Partners Law Firm, has been an invited speaker at the first conference of the Institute for Gambling and Society at the Law School of the University of Bochum, Germany. The conference took place on October, 23rd, under the general title: "Structural questions of monopolies in the lottery sector".

Dr. Simantiras speech was about "The privatization of lotteries under EU law: the case of the "privatized monopoly" in Greece", while the second speech of the conference was held by Professor Dr. Stefan Magen, holder of the Chair for Public Law, Philosophy of Law and Law & Economics at the University of Bochum Law School. Dr. Simantiras analyzed the EU law dimensions of the privatization of lotteries and the ECJ case law with special reference to case law regarding the privatization of the gambling market in Greece as well as the quite innovative supervisory and regulatory framework established by the Greek legislator in order to secure that the privatization meets EU law standards. Dr. Simantiras' invitation to the conference confirms the extended experience and in-depth know how of Tsibanoulis & Partners Law Firm both in EU law and in the special field of gambling supervision and regulation law.
